Description
The original painting had the very special honor of being chosen to exhibited at Kennedy Space Visitors Center on December 21, 2018 under the belly of Space Shuttle Atlantis during a gala celebration of Apollo 8's 50th anniversary. From the vantage point of 240,000 miles away, the beauty and fragility of Earth is profoundly apparent. In 1968 while the crew of Apollo 8 orbited the moon they became the very first human beings to view Earth from so far away. They snapped one very special photo and brought it back to Earth, a gift that has since change humankind's perspective of the delicateness of our rare home planet. From this vantage point there are no countries, political or social boundaries, there is only this breathtaking blue oasis, floating in the black loneliness of space, capable of sustaining life. Without it, we would not exist.
